Chiba
City, the capital of Chiba Prefecture, is situated at a strategic
point on Tokyo Bay approximately 40km east from the center of
Tokyo. Within Chiba Prefecture, it is 30km from the New Tokyo
International Airport in Narita, 70km from Choshi on the Pacific
coast, 60km from northernmost Sekiyado, and 80km from Shirahama,
the prefecture's southernmost town, on the Boso Peninsula.
The city is blessed with a moderate climate. The average annual
temperature is 15.1 degree C, and average monthly rainfall is
133.0mm. In April 1992, Chiba became a Government Designated
City.
