From 26 June - 31 August many of Hong Kong's department stores, shopping malls and shops will participate in the territory's largest shopping promotion, the 2004 Hong Kong Shopping Festival.

During this massive 10-week territory-wide Sale, shoppers can purchase the latest products including Fashion and Beauty, Jewellery and Watches, Consumer Electronics and Traditional Chinese items and handicrafts at discounted prices.

To support its promotional campaign for the 2004 Hong Kong Shopping Festival the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has appointed Deborah Hutton as its Australian shopping celebrity.

From May, Deborah Hutton will feature in a range of promotions developed by HKTB including a fashion shoot with The Australian Women's Weekly (May 2004 issue), photographed in Hong Kong. She will also host the May edition of Qantas Airways 'Welcome Aboard' in-flight television from Hong Kong, as well as making a guest appearance on the Today Show's live broadcast from Hong Kong with host Mr Steve Liebmann, from 10-14 May. HKTB will also feature Deborah Hutton's Hong Kong shopping tips on the www.DiscoverHongKong/Australia website.

"Hong Kong is truly the world's shopping capital of choice, variety and temptations await. I've got together a few personal shopping tips on where to go and what to do while you are there, so check out the Hong Kong Tourism Board's website for details," said Deborah Hutton.

The Hong Kong Shopping Festival will feature a wide range of special activities, including demonstrations and admission to special events. An exciting new element to this year's Festival is the introduction of extended shopping hours and the Late Night Shopping and Dining Passport, with enticing offers from participating merchants and restaurants accredited by the Quality Tourism Services Scheme (HKTB's quality assurance scheme). Visitors will be able to shop until late into the night, providing time during the day for sightseeing activities such as exploring the outlying islands and country parks. The passport will be distributed to visitors on arrival in Hong Kong.

Shoppers will also have the opportunity to enter the Festival's Grand Prize Draw, various lucky prize draws will be worth between HK$10,000 - HK$500,000 (approximately AUD1,725 -AUD86,206). For every HK$300 (approximately AUD50) spent in various participating outlets visitors can enter the Grand Prize Draw, which will be drawn at the end of the Festival.

Each weekend during the Festival (Friday-Sunday), extra pyrotechnic displays will enhance the nightly A Symphony of Lights multimedia show that adorns the high-rise buildings on the Hong Kong Island waterfront.
